The ABSOLUTE BEST way to draw, and export files from CorelDraw ® for CNC cutting in the DXF format. This tool takes the native Bezier curves of CorelDraw ® and exports them as arcs and circles instead of the line segments you get with the conventional DXF export from Corel. A single button push from the top menu brings up the DXFTools dialog box and allows you to specify the save location or use the last used location. There are some simple settings that determine the smoothness VS accuracy of the conversion for non-symmetrical arcs. Typically the defaults work well. Click one button and the process is done. The tool will stay floating on top so you can easily open multiple drawings and do a series of quick exports. Choose how you want circles processed and smooth the arc in your drawing. DXFTools uses a ratiometric smoothing algorithm that lets small arcs get the benefit of smoothing without major distortion of large arcs.
This is a typical DXF export using the CorelDraw DXF Export from the Export menu. Note the number of segments on all of the ARCs and the coarseness of the outer ring. This ring was built at 20" in diameter. The size of this file when processed with lead-ins in SheetCAM is approx 350 lines long. A PLT file export (HPGL) has smaller segments and cuts smoother if you have CV on your Controller Software but is twice the size.
Now look at the same exact set of objects exported using DXFTools. Hundreds less nodes and nice smooth arcs and an outside circle with just 4 nodes. Your CNC machine will love these files! This file is less than 115 lines long which is a 68% savings in file size alone. More complex files (like the DXFTool Medallion in the other pictures exhibited 33% less file size and a much cleaner file. Best yet is the fact that we did nothing to the layout before export with DXFTool. In the Corel DXF export, you must convert internal objects (Circles, Squares, Text, etc) to Curves before exporting or they don't come across.

The Second field is the COMPUTER ID.
