A Bit About Our Faith
It is always our desire that people will not have to see a symbol or some physical indicator of our faith to know that we are believers, but rather that they would see our Creator modeled through our actions and behavior. But, like most believers, we do accumulate objects that help encourage us in our walk, and these objects also work as good conversation starters.
From the framed reproduction of a Hebrew manuscript hanging above Steve’s desk, to the long lineup on the shelf of books and audio teachings about the Hebrew Roots of our Faith, people suspect that we may not be your garden-variety Christians. And they’re right! We, like any true-believing Christians, believe in the redemptive work of Jesus the Messiah. However, we also believe that since Jesus, or Yeshua (His name in Hebrew), believed, taught and obeyed the commandments set forth by God in the Old Testament, we should--if we are to imitate Yeshua (Jesus)--strive to live obediently as He did.We believe that the 10 Commandments are a starting point, an outline of how our Heavenly Father expects us, as His children, to behave. We believe that God fleshed out the details of HOW to keep those commandments, on a practical level through Moses in the first five books of the Bible, called in Greek the Pentateuch, and in Hebrew referred to as the Torah, and then on a deeper level through the Life and Words of Yeshua, our Redeemer.
We have presented here a very short, simplified version of what we believe. The whole of our faith is so much more full and rich than what we can convey in a short space. As time allows, we will be adding more content to help get you thinking on your own, to get you asking questions and digging deeper into the Word, to get you motivated to ask God to show you His Truth. We’re not so arrogant to think we have all the answers, but we truly believe God has lifted a veil from our eyes. We pray that He will do the same for you.
Remember, no matter what we say, what your pastor says, or your neighbor, spouse, parents or friends say: Prayerfully study the matter for yourself! Get out your Bible and dive in.
For those who are curious, and for those who already walk a similar path to our own, we are making available some 2-minute audio presentations called “Torah Thoughts,” by our friend Bill Sanford. Bill doesn’t pull any punches here. If you are not ready to have your preconceived notions challenged, then don’t bother to listen.
Just so you know, Bill’s opinions do not necessarily reflect our opinions. Each of us walks his own walk, and each of us arrives at some different conclusions. But we think that Bill makes a lot of valid points to help encourage and challenge you in YOUR walk!
